Cobb EMC and Point Broadband Announce Partnership to Expand Gigabit Fiber Internet
WEST POINT, GA – Cobb Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) and Point Broadband today announced a joint effort to expand the coverage area of fiber broadband service to members of the electric cooperative.
Cobb EMC began offering high-speed Internet and voice services to commercial customers through its wholly owned subsidiary, Fiber South, in October 2020. The electric cooperative is teaming up with Point Broadband to expand Internet and enhanced voice services to residents and businesses, with symmetrical speeds up to 10 Gbps.
The fiber optic network will allow members to upgrade to a symmetrical Gigabit Internet connection (same download and upload speeds) along with enhanced digital voice services – and support their member-owned coop.
“In today’s digitally driven world, growing communities like the ones served by Cobb EMC are demanding the best and fastest broadband solution at competitive prices,” said Todd Holt, Point Broadband CEO. “Point Broadband’s mission is to improve lives with fiber technology. With a proven record of success delivering high-speed Internet to communities across the U.S., we are excited about this partnership and look forward to bringing our best-in-class residential, small and medium business and enterprise services to the member-owners of Cobb EMC.”
Holt added that residents and businesses in the member service footprint will now have a choice for their Internet service, which will help drive competition, service and pricing. In addition to getting the most robust broadband available today, Point Broadband fiber customers save money over cable because they can stream their TV content with no buffering and only pay for the channels they want.
“Point Broadband is committed to the communities we serve and embraces the opportunity with Cobb EMC to expand access to broadband for its member-owners,” Holt said.
