Point Broadband Bringing Fiber Internet, GIG Speeds To Fairhope, Alabama

by

Point Broadband, an Alabama-based fiber broadband company operating in 10 states, will soon expand its fiber network in south Alabama following a franchise agreement with the City of Fairhope.

The approval of the franchise during Fairhope’s City Council meeting on Monday night means the most robust gigabit fiber broadband solution is coming to the Fairhope community through Point Broadband’s all-fiber network.

According to Point Broadband CEO Todd Holt, the company is currently building and operating fiber networks in small cities and rural areas in the eastern United States, with a significant focus on Baldwin County and other areas in its home state of Alabama.

“In the last year, we have seen significant changes in the way customers utilize the Internet,” Holt said. “Fiber Internet has become less of a luxury and more of a necessity. Our vision at Point Broadband is to improve lives with fiber technology, and we are fortunate to be in a position to deliver this vision to the residents and businesses of Fairhope and surrounding communities.”

The company plans to construct a state-of-the-art, all-fiber network delivering symmetrical speeds up to 10 gigabits and robust voice service. Gig speeds provide faster downloads and uploads, enhanced video, real-time gaming and uninterrupted connections in multi-device homes. The company’s new network will give Fairhope residents and businesses extra capacity to grow as new technology develops, and as an increasing number of in-home devices and business solutions require advanced Internet connectivity.

More details will follow on Point Broadband’s expansion plan and the homes and businesses that will be the company’s service footprint.
