Bristol, Virginia

Located on the Virginia/Tennessee border is Bristol, Virginia. Its twin city is Bristol, Tennessee, and it belongs to the Tri-Cities area, which also includes Johnson City and Kingsport. Its central location allows for easy access to the five-state area of Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina. In 1766, Evan Shelby settled in Big Camp Meet, which is now Bristol, Virginia/Tennessee. By the mid-1800s, Bristol would become the junction of two railroad lines that would meet at the Virginia and Tennessee border.

In 1998, Bristol was recognized as the birthplace of country music and is home to the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. You can also find the Bristol Motor Speedway – known as “the world’s fastest half mile.” Each year, this race track hosts two NASCAR Sprint Cup events, two NASCAR Xfinity Series events and one Camping World Truck Series event.
